The Stone Event Center is located in the historic Stone Building in downtown Fargo. Charles R. Stone built the Classical Revival style building in 1909 to house his Stone Piano Company. The upper two floors were the home of the Fargo College Conservatory of Music.
The building remained a music store over the next 80 years, under different banners. The last was the Schmitt Music Company of Minneapolis, which eventually moved their music store out of downtown. A series of restaurants and small venues occupied the space over the next few years.
In 1999, the building underwent a $1 million renovation and became a grand downtown wedding and events venue. In early 2020, the Stone Events Center opened in the space.
